Fire Cadets

The Fire Cadet Scheme provides young people aged 12 to 17 years with an exciting insight into working within a uniformed service, whilst also encouraging the young people to develop self-discipline and team-work through a range of practical activities.

The Fire Cadets meet every Monday evening 6.30 8.30pm at Holmes Chapel Fire Station.

Girlguiding, the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK, has two Rainbow units (for girls aged 5 7 years), three Brownie units (for girls aged 7 - 10 years), two Guide Units (for girls aged 10 - 14 years) and one Ranger Unit (for girls aged 14 years upwards) in Holmes Chapel.

Scouting: 1st Holmes Chapel Group

Ist Holmes Chapel Scout group provides a range of Scouting activities for boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 years.

The Beaver section caters for 6 8 years old, the Cub section is for 8-10 years old, and Scouts for 10-14 years old, with meetings on Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays.

Viking Explorer Scouting Unit

Explorers are the 4th section of Scouting for boys and girls aged 14 to 18 years.  Vikings (VESU) meet weekly in Holmes Chapel. New members are always welcome and do not have to previously been a Scout.  Members have the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme as well as the Scouting awards.  There is also a Young Leaders scheme where Explorers help with some of the other Scouting sections.  The Explorer Scout programme is designed to encourage independence through activity and adventure as well as encouraging involvement in community activities.
